When it lands it makes a mark.
Why does marker bleed through paper.
Other markers do bleed but not as significantly.
This is a problem because you might not be able to write on both sides of a piece of paper if it bleeds too much.
This is why you need bleed proof paper.
With alcohol based markers the alcohol doesn t damage the paper as much but it can move trough it.
This can cause that the colour spreads further than you wanted it which can be irritating when for example colouring line art.
So what s happening is when you touch the marker to the paper the alcohol moistens the contact point and the surroundings a bit allowing the ink to spread out.
However bleed proof can mean that the ink doesn t move trough the paper.
Sharpies are alcohol based.
But bleeding edges and copic jelly aren t the only things that happen when you overblend.
The paper is wicking the fluid medium through its fibers allowing the pigments to be carried with it.
Bleeding occurs when ink soaks through a piece of paper to the other side.
It also means that ink might soak through onto the next piece of paper or even the surface you re writing on.
Picture it this way you drop ink onto a toilet paper square.
The combination of the makeup of the paint in the marker and the density and surface quality of the paper is what contributes to bleed through.
It doesn t have anywhere else to go so it coagulates on the surface of the cardstock.
Paper that makes sure that marker or sharpie doesn t bleed or go through it.
